Lyons Build Limited are based in Northfleet - serving Kent and the South of England in Domestic and Commercial Building projects. We pride ourselves on providing a polite and honest service to our valued customers.
Lyons Eco Build
At Lyons Build we not only try and use the most Eco-friendliest products in our constructions, we also try and use products to help run an Eco friendly, cost effective property.
SIP build systems are more energy efficient than traditional build methods, they are more air tight which reduces heat loss. Used alongside Air source heat pumps (ASHP) or ground source heat pumps (GSHP) for heating and hot water, household bills can be reduced dramatically. By also installing solar and a wind turbine alongside the ASHP or GSHP a house can become self-sufficient.
AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMP
An air source heat pump (ASHP) is a system which transfers heat from outside to inside a building, or vice versa. Under the principles of vapor compression refrigeration, an ASHP uses a refrigerant system involving a compressor and a condenser to absorb heat at one place and release it at another.
They can be used as a space heater or cooler, and are sometimes called "reverse-cycle air conditioners".
GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMP / Geothermal heat pump
A ground source heat pump or geothermal heat pump is a central heating and/or cooling system that transfers heat to or from the ground. It uses the earth all the time, without any intermittency, as a heat source or a heat sink. This design takes advantage of the moderate temperatures in the ground to boost efficiency and reduce the operational costs of heating and cooling systems, and may be combined with solar heating to form a geosolar system with even greater efficiency.
They are also known by other names, including geoexchange, earth-coupled, earth energy systems. The engineering and scientific communities prefer the terms "geoexchange" or "ground source heat pumps" to avoid confusion with traditional geothermal power, which uses a high temperature heat source to generate electricity. Ground source heat pumps harvest heat absorbed at the Earth's surface from solar energy. The temperature in the ground below 6 metres is roughly equal to the mean annual air temperature at that latitude at the surface.
Solar panel electricity systems
Solar panel electricity systems, also known as photovoltaics (PV), capture the sun's energy using photovoltaic cells. These cells don't need direct sunlight to work – they can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances and lighting.
Lyons Eco Build Materials
When selecting the materials we use on our construction projects we try to be responsible, sustainable & environmentally friendly. We try our up most in using ethically sourced building products.
Timber Products
Wood is of course one of the most environmentally friendly materials we can use for building.
Whilst taking only a relatively small amount of energy to turn into the products we need, wood also naturally absorbs carbon dioxide throughout its life cycle.
However, whilst providing us with such benefits, if the wood is not grown sustainably - meaning trees that are used for products are replaced and replanted at the same rate as they are used - then this of course creates an adverse effect which is extremely harmful to the environment.
It is with this mind, Lyons Build work ONLY with suppliers who provide our wood materials in an ethically sourced, environmentally friendly and sustainable manner.
Natural Light & Green Roofs
Using the sun as natural light by installing bi-fold doors and roof lights or roof lanterns we can utilise the maximum amount of daylight hours and turn it into heating and lighting for the home. Metal is a natural resource, so we only use aluminium on our bi-folding doors. The natural heat and light of the sun can be used in conjunction with the bi-folds and roof lights to help heat and light properties.
Green roofs in sedum trays are another environmentally friendly option that we build and install for customers.
Recycled Materials
What is composite cladding?
Composite cladding combines a mixture of materials to provide improved durability and longevity. This is typically a mixture of plastic and wood. These are combined with a unique resin, which helps combine the materials and prevent any splintering.
Composite decking is a man-made building product made up of mix of wood fibres, plastics and a small amount of bonding agents. This mix is heated, formed into board shaped lengths and then cooled.
Composite decking and cladding are now produced using recycled materials and combined to make long lasting products which come in a finish colour and texture for different applications and scenarios.
